Hospital stay after video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery

Dear Editor

We would like to thank Shen et al. for their interest in our study1 and their comments on our results. Although reduction of length of hospital stay is one of the goals of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), focus should be on faster achievement of accepted discharge criteria rather than the length itself. Another focus of ERAS is to enhance post-discharge recovery, but still with limited evidence.
