The Editorial Board is issuing an Expression of Concern on the article entitled “Novel noninvasive marker of regression of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC)” [Turk J Urol. 2022; 48(1): 49-57; DOI: 10.5152/tud.2022.21259] by Barbara Köditz, Melanie von Brandenstein, Manuel Huerta-Arana, Axel Heidenreich, Jochen W. U. Fries. After publication of this article, the corresponding author reached out to the editor indicating the misunderstanding on the ethics committee approval concerning the above article. The author had applied to the local ethics committee before starting the research. The local ethics committee provided a reference number for the research which the author erroneously believed that the final approval of the ethics committee was given to the study and send the article to the Turkish Journal of Urology for publication. The journal has published the article in accordance with the author’s declaration during the initial submission indicating that the ethics committee was received from the University Hospital of Cologne with the approval ID 20-1762. The Editorial Board investigated the situation and decided to publish this Expression of Concern regarding the issue raised by the author.
