Animals on HFD show behavioral despair in the forced swim test. Two-month-old male Sprague Dawley rats fed with LFD or HFD showed no significant differences in (A) time spent struggling, or (B) time spent diving during the Forced Swim Test, and no significant differences in (C) fecal pellet output. However, rats receiving the HFD spent (D) more time immobile, (E) less time swimming, and (F) covered less distance. Data represented as mean ± standard error of the mean. n = 14 in LFD group and n = 14 in HFD group. ∗p < 0.05, ∗∗p < 0.01.
