Ethical Statement: The experimental animal Exopalaemon carinicauda used in this study belong to low-grade invertebrates, which are not protected by regulations or law. Researchers are familiar with the animal methods involved in the experiments. The number of experimental animals is controlled in a reasonable range. The Animal Ethical and Welfare Committee (AEWC) of Nanjing Normal University believed that the formal ethical is not required in this study after a preliminary review.

Ethical Statement: All the animal experiments conducted in this present study were in accordance with ethical standards. The defense genes project was a bilateral funded project (DST-BELSPO and the DBT)

Indian funding agencies, do not require the ethical committee clearance for the use of invertebrates like crustaceans (shrimps, prawns, etc), molluscs (clams, mussels, oysters, etc), Drosophila, etc in their experiments.

Hence ethical committee clearance has not been obtained separately.
