Correction to: Generalizable prediction of COVID-19 mortality on worldwide patient data

PMCID: PMC9724148  PMID: 36483673

This is a correction to: Maxim Edelson, Tsung-Ting Kuo, Generalizable prediction of COVID-19 mortality on worldwide patient data, JAMIA Open, Volume 5, Issue 2, July 2022, ooac036, https://doi.org/10.1093/jamiaopen/ooac036

Following publication of this article, it was found that the average age in the Introduction section for the unprocessed dataset was 46 years old and the female gender ratio is 47.1%, rather than 45 years old and 47.6%, as originally reported.

Additionally, certain values in Table 1 and in the Introduction were incorrectly calculated, which has been herewith corrected in this correction notice. The following fields’ missing values were amended: chronic diseases (dense 98.1%), symptoms (dense 96.5%), country (sparse 4.5% and dense 66.1%), the date onset symptoms (sparse 96.7% and dense 49.6%), date of hospital admission (dense 96.8%), and the date of death or discharge (sparse 99.0% and dense 84.4%). All other unmentioned fields, and their respective datasets, were unchanged after recalculation.

Finally, bullet point 3 in Limitations was updated to provide more details regarding the preprocessing steps.
