Dear Editor,
This is in response to the question asked by the author of the manuscript entitled “Comments on Coronavirus Positive Patients Presenting with Stroke-Like Symptoms”.
Patient 10 was examined by our colleagues in the ophthalmology department for acute onset of right eye vision loss. Bedside fundus exam of the right eye demonstrated a cherry red spot. No embolic plaques were seen. CTA head/neck showed diminished flow in the right ophthalmic artery compared to the left. It also showed a filling defect in the right common carotid with extension into the proximal right internal carotid artery. The filling defect extended intracranially. There was reconstitution at the level of the communicating segment via the right posterior communicating artery.
The clinical exam and the CTA findings are most consistent with a central retinal artery occlusion.
Yours sincerely,
