In Figure 2, the plots for all-cause mortality in both men and women and the plot for smoking-related cancer mortality in men were incorrect.

Specifically:

  • All-cause mortality in men was shown as the plot for all-cause mortality in women and the 95% confidence intervals at 1–2, 3–5, and >40 cigarettes per day were also shown incorrectly.

  • All-cause mortality in women was shown as the plot for smoking-related cancer mortality in men.

  • Smoking-related cancer mortality in men was shown as the plot for all-cause mortality in men.

The Figure has been corrected.
