EDITORIAL
I was fortunate to work with Jack Kenney when I started as an Editor at the Journal of Bacteriology (JB) in 2007 until his retirement in 2010. Jack Kenney was an outstanding production editor who helped me in so many ways as I learned the ropes as a new editor. He died shortly after his retirement. We have been selecting a recipient of the Jack Kenney Award for Outstanding Service since 2010.
.

I am pleased to announce that Jade Wang is the 2022 recipient of this award. She is pictured here with her award.
Jade Wang is a professor of bacteriology at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. She and her team use genetics and biochemistry, together with high-throughput approaches, to understand the complex regulatory networks that control the stress response in bacteria. This work includes understanding the mechanism and evolution of important signaling second messengers, such as (p)ppGpp, AppppA, ppApp, and c-di-GMP.
Over the past year, she has reviewed 9 manuscripts for JB—she did not decline a single review.
The editors are pleased to recognize Jade Wang’s outstanding service to JB and society publishing.
