In the originally published version of this manuscript, the following sentence classed Gossypol as a phytoanticipin, which is incorrect:

Gossypol, for example, is a well-known phytoanticipin in cotton and it has been shown that UGT-glycosylation and P450-oxygenation of gossypol are important for gossypol detoxification (Mao et al. 2007; Krempl et al. 2016).

The sentence should instead have been given as:

Gossypol, for example, is a well-known phytoalexin in cotton and it has been shown that UGT-glycosylation and P450-oxygenation of gossypol are important for gossypol detoxification (Mao et al. 2007; Krempl et al. 2016).

These details have been corrected only in this correction notice to preserve the published version of record.
