The Q/P-rich domain is enclosed in a box, the nuclear localization signals are double underlined, and the exonuclease domain is underlined. Exon boundaries are indicated as inverted triangles. The additional nine amino acids consequently appended to PQE-1C at the end of exon 6 are listed below the PQE-1A sequence. The removal of exons 5 and 6 during mRNA splicing generates the pqe-1B mRNA.
