Fig. 6. Single-bacterium quantitation. An example of fluorescence intensity signals obtained from bacterium sample containing about 25 bacterial cells is shown. The sample was then divided into 100 wells for plate reader measurement. We have determined the number of bacterial cells by using the average intensity plus 3 s. The data shown here are the typical results. The fluorescence intensity was obtained after subtracting blank background.
