Table 5. Direct vs. indirect effect of insulin on gene regulation. Some of the genes shown in Fig. 2b are represented here. The GenBank accession numbers, functional categories, and protein product names of the genes are given in the first three columns. The fifth column represents the change seen in the muscle insulin receptor knockout (MIRKO) mouse for these genes, whereas the sixth column represents the calculated value from Fig. 2b (as described in Results) that represents the indirect effect of the loss of insulin (i.e., the change due to metabolic alterations of diabetes effect).
