Stevens LA, Levey AS: Measured GFR as a confirmatory test for estimated GFR. J Am Soc Nephrol 20: 2305–2313, 2009.
Please note the following correction in the above article published in the November 2009 issue of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. In this article, we state on page 2306 in the section entitled Non-Steady State, “In the non–steady state, the rate and direction of change in the level of the filtration marker and in eGFR reflect the magnitude and direction of the change in GFR but do not accurately reflect the level of GFR. As shown in Figure 2, after a fall in GFR, the decline in eGFR is less than the decline in GFR, and eGFR thus exceeds GFR.” This statement is correct. However, the legend to Figure 2 contradicts this statement and states, “During this time, eGFR is lower than GFR,” whereas it should say that, during this time, eGFR exceeds GFR.
