For the article “Cardiomyogenesis in the Developing Heart Is Regulated by C-Kit–Positive Cardiac Stem Cells” (Circ Res. 2012;110:701–715; DOI: 10.1161/CIRCRESAHA.111.259507) by João Ferreira-Martins, Barbara Ogórek, Donato Cappetta, Alex Matsuda, Sergio Signore, Domenico D’Amario, James Kostyla, Elisabeth Steadman, Noriko Ide-Iwata, Fumihiro Sanada, Grazia Iaffaldano, Sergio Ottolenghi, Toru Hosoda, Annarosa Leri, Jan Kajstura, Piero Anversa, and Marcello Rota, an investigation by Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) has determined that there were issues with some of the data reported in the article, specifically Figure 2, Online Supplemental Figures 1, 2A-D, 2F-H, and XIV (phosphor-H3 inset). An expression of concern was published on November 20, 2018,1 to alert readers that the American Heart Association was communicating with the authors and reviewing the materials provided by BWH. After considering input from authors, the American Heart Association has determined that the best interest of the public and the research community will be served by issuing this notice of retraction. Dr Rota would like to apologize to the community.
The American Heart Association, therefore, retracts the article.
