The authors regret that errors were present on page 220, under the heading ‘Neuraxial adjuncts, subsection ‘Opioids’; and on page 221, subsection ‘Adrenaline (epinephrine). The correct paragraph should read:

Opioids

Opioids bind to different opioid receptors, especially MOP (μ) receptors in the substantia gelatinosa of the dorsal horn, and produce analgesia by inducing hyperpolarisation of the afferent sensory neurones.

Adrenaline (epinephrine)

Adrenaline is an α- and β-adrenoreceptor agonist. The mechanism of action is direct and indirect. The direct action is by presynaptic binding to α2 adrenoreceptors in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord and the indirect action is by vasoconstriction, leading to slower systemic reabsorption of LA and longer duration of the block.

The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
