Abstract
No definitive syllabus of practical skills for the practice nurse has been published. I describe some specific educational objectives for the use of these skills, tested recently in a course for practice nurses. The topics they cover include: preventive measures, diagnostic tests, patient treatment, patient care (that is, conditions requiring extended patient contact), and treatment room management.
