Fine Structure of Poly-β-Hydroxybutyric Acid Granules in a Blue-Green Alga, Chlorogloea fritschii

Abstract

Granules characterized as poly-β-hydroxybutyric acid are described in Chlorogloea fritschii, a blue-green alga. They are generally spherical inclusions of slight electron density which are limited by a membrane approximately 3 nm in thickness.
