Separation of Serum Bactericidal and Opsonizing Activities for Haemophilus influenzae Type b

Abstract

When assay conditions permitted bacterial growth, immune serum had no bactericidal activity for Haemophilus influenzae but promoted rapid phagocytic killing of this organism by human leukocytes.
